03.06 Incident Response (IR)

Phase 1 - A suggested method would be to include in your policy, a comprehensive incident response plan that aligns with NIST 800-171 Revision 3, focusing specifically on protecting Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). This policy should detail procedures for incident planning, detection, analysis, containment, eradication, recovery, and ongoing monitoring. It needs to clearly define roles and responsibilities, establish communication protocols, and outline steps for documenting incidents. Furthermore, the policy should include regular training for personnel on incident response procedures and emphasize the importance of continuous improvement through post-incident reviews and updates to the policy itself. This will help ensure we're prepared to effectively handle any security incidents involving CUI and minimize their impact.
