This policy establishes requirements for marking all system media (e.g., hard drives, USB drives, optical discs, tapes) that contain Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) to clearly indicate distribution limitations, handling caveats, and applicable CUI markings. This policy applies to all personnel and systems within the organization that handle or process CUI. According to DoDI 5200.48, all CUI will include the marking “CUI” on the top and bottom of every page. Documents will also include a new CUI Designation Indicator box on the bottom right of the cover with information on who marked the document as CUI and why. For more information, see DOD INSTRUCTION 5200.48 (.mil website), CUI Information (.mil website) and CUI Quick Marking Tips (.edu website)Reference work instruction for more information Work Instruction: Segregation of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Non-CUI
