Scope

This policy outlines the requirements for protecting the confidentiality of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) within system backups by implementing appropriate cryptographic mechanisms to prevent unauthorized disclosure at backup storage locations. This policy applies to all systems and personnel involved in the creation, storage, and management of system backups containing CUI.

Determine If

  • A.03.08.09.a: the confidentiality of backup information is protected.
  • A.03.08.09.b: cryptographic mechanisms are implemented to prevent the unauthorized disclosure of CUI at backup storage locations.
