03.09 Personnel Security (PS)

Phase 1 - A suggested method would be to include in your policy, a statement that mandates background checks for all personnel with access to CUI, commensurate with the risk level associated with their roles. We should also require mandatory annual security awareness training that covers recognizing and reporting insider threats, proper handling of CUI, and the consequences of policy violations. Furthermore, the policy needs to outline clear supervisory responsibilities, including regular performance reviews and monitoring of user activity for suspicious behavior. Finally, I believe we should implement a process for revoking access promptly when personnel change roles or leave the organization. This comprehensive approach will help us meet the NIST 800-171 Revision 3 Personnel Security requirements and protect our CUI.
